Nebosh - External Examination Candidates
External candidates are those who take the examination at a centre where they did not study. They may, for example, have studied by open/distance learning and wish to take the examination at a centre that is geographically convenient. External candidates are admitted solely at the discretion of OPITO.

OPITO will charge external candidates a fee for administration and invigilation, and for arranging and marking the practical assessment. External candidates are personally responsible for meeting all fees charged by OPITO; such fees are not covered by the fee payable to NEBOSH, which is for the provision of the examination itself. External candidates may take an examination only at a centre where the examination is already being run for the centre’s own internal candidates. All parts of the examination (the written papers and practical assessment) must be taken at the same centre.

External candidates must ensure that they have made the necessary arrangements with an examination centre for both the written papers and the practical assessment before registering for the examination with NEBOSH. The normal closing date for registration applies – this date is shown on the registration form for the appropriate examination sitting. Registration forms are available only from examination centres, not direct from NEBOSH.
